Cancun Baby!!
Last summer we had a fabulous vacation lined up. We joined Kenny's family in Cancun for a week. We stayed in a luxurious suite!
The view was beautiful and the ocean was sooo blue! We did have a couple days of rain which (even for the rain goddess) was a bummer because I was looking forward to sun worshiping while I was there.
This is the view from our room, we loved to sleep with the door open to hear the waves crashing on the beach...I love that sound!
One of the days we were there, we went to Chichen
Itza for a very tourist experience. It was pretty
cool to see the old Mayan ruins and hear theories and facts on the ruins.
It was BLAZING hot that day...I was beside myself with the heat. There was not a lot of shade either.
We all sweated profusely and needed a break from the heat.
Tom had some especially funny sweat marks...I think we all had similar ones.
He had just come home from the Dominican Republic on his mission. He was used to the heat as well as most of the other people who served tropical missions. They spent the day making fun of how miserable Mariah and I were in the heat.
Here is a picture of the cenote we went to. It was really pretty and cool. There were tons of little fishes in the cenote.
There was a walkway along the side of it that you could use to jump off of and into the cenote. We did that so many times, my ears started to hurt due to the pressure from jumping into the water.
Then we were taken to a buffet to eat and went back to our fabulous resort.
One of the days we went to an island not far off the coast of the Cancun. We spent the day riding on a golf cart around the island seeing the sights. We also took some time to play in the water as always:)
We took a fun boat ride over to the island. It was pretty hot that day too. We did a little bit of snorkeling too, the current was a little strong so there weren't a ton of fish, but it was fun for a little bit
Here is a near where we snorkeled. It was absolutely beautiful! This was a zip line that had numerous lines down to the water.
I really wished we had done it, it looked like a lot of fun. Oh well, next time!!
We spent most of the time in the pool, hot tub, and ocean. And when we weren't doing that we were enjoying great meals at some of the restaurants in the resort.
This was one of our last nights there...ahh, bittersweet.
Nice and tanned, relaxed, and supposedly ready to head back to reality!
We had a great trip and realize the importance of taking time out of our normal lives to give ourselves a break and be able to enjoy a vacation.
Here are a few more pictures of the vacation:
The outdoor restaurant for lunch
The pool
Kenny Slappin' da Bass
French cuisine for dinner!
How ironic! A resort named after my family and I!!
Thanks to Kenny and myself for making sure we could go on this trip!
