Hiking Timpanogos Cave

Kenny surprised me today (last summer). It was my day off and I suspected I'd spend it sleeping in among other things.

Kenny stayed home from work so we could go hike to the cave together. We got up early to ensure we would be able to make the first or second hike of the day.

This is at the visitors center. The hike was rather short but it had a steep elevation gain.

It was really beautiful and although it was summer, the weather was perfect in the morning hours.

There were some cool rock formations along the way including this man-made hole in the rock for the trail.

We were told it would take at least an hour and a half to get up there so we went as fast as we could.

We made it up in 40 minutes and had to hang out at the top for a bit. We had plenty of little snacks to nibble on!

This is us waiting at the top!

Our ranger made it to the top, en-route there was a ranger riding a moped up the trail...hmmm, that was interesting! I am happy to say that our ranger did the hike!

It was completely dark in the cave. The ranger had a flashlight and turned it off at one point. We couldn't see the end of our noses! It was crazy dark. I've always wondered how long I could sleep for, without the interruption of daylight. I think that would be the place to try my theory out! Only if I could have my Tempurpedic with me!!

One of the coolest formations we saw the the "Heart of Timpanogos". It even resembles a true heart!

After our hike down from the top, we went down to the river and had a small picnic. It was pretty and refreshing as I was dipped my face in the water.

It was a fabulous day off! One of my favorite. We then went home and took a nap! I love naps! Then I spent the rest of the afternoon sewing on some of my projects.

Thanks Kenny for making my day off perfect!! I love you!!
